Default Need illustration of waning and waxing moon based on horizon.

Hello all,

my son is looking for an illustration of waning and waxing moon.

What he really need for school is an illustration in phase of the moon
with sun set (or rise) and horizon of earth.

Example:

The moon is above horizon and shows a phase. Below the horizon there is
the sun, that kids can recognize how moon phase works. In best case two
illustrations (waning and waxing moon).

Like this draft.....

moon: )
horizon: -------------------
sun: o

Does anyone have such an illustration/graphic in a book or web and can
send it to me?

Many thanks in advance!

Heinz

P.S. - For the horizon, issue, I believe Cartes du Ciel will generate
the horizon chart with a correctly oriented picture of the Moon with a
phase mask.

Cartes du Ciel is freeware.

It's a crude rendering but gets across the basic misconception that the
general public has about which way the Moon's bright limb and cusps are
oriented toward the horizon as the Moon rises or sets.
