Does anyone have recommendations for a usenet newsreader that runs on
the Mac? (yes, I'm switching...)

It would depend on what color the Mac is.

There's load of newsreaders for the Mac. Try here,
http://www.newsreaders.com/mac/clients.html.
I personally use MacSoup but it's not to everyones taste. If you're coming
from Windows then Thunderbird, Gemini or Opera are good choices.
