Fundamentalist Christians & Atheists: Identical Twins!
-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE-----
Question. Why is unwarily-brainwashed fundamentalism so rampant among Atheists, Christians, and other "fundie"-style religions? When you compare their beliefs, as expressed in their own words, it is astonishing how much alike they are. Wasn't it Hal Lindsey who said that the line that divides fundamentalist Atheism from fundamentalist Christianity is "finer than frog's hair" or some- thing to that effect? It really is difficult to tell them apart. They are nearly indistinguishable, fundie Christians and fundie Atheists. For example, both groups fear all things supernatural. It's like they have no insight into anything that isn't mundane. No supernatural experience, no supernatural understanding, nada. Any Christian or Atheist who admits to having such supernatural experiences and understanding, obviously isn't a fundamentalist, as holds true for such gifted souls of any religious persuasion. But let's talk about those who don't, fundie Xians and Atheists... The one group calls all knowledge and experience regarding the supernatural "tricks of the devil", "Satanic", "mental illness", ad nauseam. Whereas the other group calls the very same things "claptrap", "nonsense", "mental illness", dittos ad nauseam ad infinitum. Just as a rose is a rose, bull**** is bull****. And fundamentalism, bull****, by any other name stinks just as bad. Are the fundamentalist Jews, Muslims, et al guilty of the very same sins of ignorance? You bet they are! (see Leviticus 5:17). So, the only difference between the two groups is their choice of words to describe the supernatural and all matters related thereto. Neither group has one clue what they're talking about, so they rely on group-think to support their servile stupidity. No independent thought permitted. No questioning their worldly so-called "authorities". Do as your told, believe what we tell you, and don't think for yourself. That describes both groups. They'll say "the bible says this", even though they're quoting pitifully oversimplified, "dumbed-down" translations for their fundamentalist minions. The other group will selectively quote from the very same "bible-for-dummies" translations, when they think it suits them, even though they don't believe a word of it, regardless of the translation quoted. Neither group quotes from the Latin Vulgate, but always from "dumbed-down" versions. Or when they quote words or phrases from the original Greek or Hebrew (with smatterings of Aramaic), they'll claim "this word means this", even though the ancient author had a *far* better understanding and profound comprehension of the subject matter. For example, try holding an intelligent discussion with either group about ancient mythology, astrology, tarot, souls, karma, reincarnation, ghosts, hauntings, UFOs, or anything you can think of that might fall into the category of "supernatural", and you'll always get the same, autonomic, knee-jerk decrial. All things called "occult", all things called "supernatural", by the fundamentalists, are called "evil", or else are called "rubbish", etc. Both groups become very apprehensive when you bring up any such "forbidden" subject matter. It's FORBIDDEN! The funny part is, Atheists are predictably quick to protest with something like "that's against Christianity!" "How dare you talk favorably and God-forbid knowledgeably about things which are officially verboten to be practiced by Christians!" Of course, the fundie Christians say exactly the same thing. You see? Their own words prove that both groups share a great deal in common, and a great deal more than they care to admit. And I won't even get into what they believe about Jesus Christ, not here. I'll write another article dedicated to that subject. Boy, won't these fundamentalist Christians -and- fundamentalist Atheists be surprised as holy ever-livin' Hell at Judgment Day, and die in shame of identical causes. In fact, pretty much the whole fundamentalist world is about to be in for one very rude awakening. Think of it as an apocalyptic "attitude-adjustment".
