Default Land of Mt. Hood and the Source of the East Wind

A cool but sunny day here in Gresham. Currently 68F as of 1:00 PM on thies Sunday afternoon. Some clouds in the sky, but still dry. Expected high only 71F. Warmer weather expected to return by tomorrow.

Some of the Indian tribes in California survived mostly on acorns! The trick was they would grind then up into a meal, and them soak it in water until the bitterness was gone. Then they could bake it into a kind of bread. Indians could cook in baskets that were women so fine that they could hold water. They would heat rocks up in a fire, then put them in a water filled basket and that would make the water boil and cook their food! Just goes to show, they were thinking in all directions!

***That's sort of like how Hagar puts road kill on the radiator of his house
until that ole possum sizzles like Kobe beef.

A perfect 73F as of 12:30 PM PDT here in Gresham. East wind at 12 mph. Sunny and not a cloud in the sky. Rain not expected until Saturday.

Might be a good clear night to go out and see the Mars, Saturn, Antares triangle!

A pleasant day here in Gresham with temp 76F as of 12:45 PM. Light east wine.

Well this time of year means Oktoberfests are coming up. The Munich one is out of the question for me, but I remember our old friend Charles Bohne saying he was on the committee that puts that one on. The Mt. Angel Oktoberfest is the most famous one here in Oregon, but it is about 70 miles to the south, and no bus service goes there. I used to love the Portland Oktoberfest at the Lloyd Center, but they discontinued that one years ago. There is still one here in Portland at Oaks Park. A bus does go by there, although there is still a ways to walk. Walking might not be so easy after being at an Oktoberfest for a while! But you certainly don't want to drive.

Then I found out there is a one day Oktoberfest at the McMenamins pub property in Troutdale! That is just over the hill from me here! And easy bus service. That will be a week from this Sunday. The place has memories for me too, since I used to work there in the kitchen back when it was the county rest home.

A calm, sunny, and peaceful day here in Gresham. Temp 68F as of 12:30 PM PDT. Will probably get no higher than 79F later.

Had a nice lunch with Kim yesterday at the Chinese Buffet. She keeps pressing me to write a book. Now that she has food stamps, she is giving me lots of healthful fruits and nuts.

A perfect day here in Gresham. Sunshine with a few light clouds. Wind 0 mph. Humidity 43%. But tomorrow rain is expected. Oh well, tomorrow is a good day to stay home and watch (or listen to) college football!

Stock market has been on a roller coaster this week! I have some skin in the game now having invested small amounts in a number of stocks. I fear declines next month, but as long as interest rates stay near zero, I foresee continuing long term gains for the market.

There are always reasons to get in and out of the market. For instance,
Hagar sold his entire 12 shares of Trojan Manufacturing Co. when he found
out they were no longer going to produce product in size extra-small. Dolly
the Ewe has told him "no glove, no love," so he doesn't know what to do.
His love life is truly in his own hands now.

The September rains have begum here! Steady rain this morning. Lots of water to have to walk through on the streets. Hope my street doesn't wash out like it did last year.

Currently only 56F in a water logged Gresham. Best hoped for high is 69F. Rain expected through tomorrow. Got my umbrella and my sweater with me today.

Lots of football later today. Ducks are on ABC so they will be widely seen..

Bert, we may still live to see the day when war involves only robots killing robots!
