Default Stellarium user guide Q

Just a quick question please, found the following in the Stellarium user
guide # 5.2.1 Setting your location :
'The values for longitude and latitude are positive for North and East,
negative for South and West. The format of the number is in degrees minutes
and seconds. The value for the altitude is in meters.'

Is this correct, or should North & West be positive and South & East be
negative?
TIA
Fred
