Default telescope prices uk

Hello

what do people think about buying a telescope from the united states to the
UK
with the exchange rate of 1,85 a telescope the uk price should be about 2
thirds the price in the USA but instead is actually much more so $3000 does
equal £1621 but we are charged £4000 or more

Old story.
Remember you have to pay shipping, then duty on the price and the shipping,
then VAT on the entire total. You are also paying for UK warranty support.
This is why historically, a '3000$' scope sells for about 3000 pounds.
Anything that is much above this, is a rip-off.
However the reason it looks so bad at the moment, is timing. Scopes
currently on the market in the UK, will have been ordered, and paid for, by
the dealers months ago. The current weak dollar, may well result in lower
prices in a few months time.
Remember if you buy in the US, your warranty is in the US. So long as you
are happy with the risk, then find a friend in the US, who is prepared to
take delivery for you, and then 're-ship' to the UK.
For some bargains, look at the pulsar adds on AstroMart.

Best Wishes

then buy two in the US, it will still be cheaper than buying 1 in europe.
