Fantastic display with searchlights reaching to the zenith and curtains
across the whole northern sky. A few really violent looking moments , loads
of movement and occasional bursts of faint colour visable. Breathtaking!

On the south coast it looked like a brightening towards the north
west. I could make out rays and curtains but little detail. The
camera picked up the colour without bother which was something of a
surprise.

The previous three displays that were visible down here were better
than last nights (hey I'm not complaining). I seem to remember that
aurora that were visible from the southern parts of the UK were held
in high esteem because of their rarity. Pah - now it seems that every
night you go out there's a bloody aurora creating light pollution ;-)

All in all a fantastic night that really energises the newsgroup.
It's one of those events where you really feel that you're not
observing on your own. Great stuff.
