No, it is James Webb Space Telescope that ate the space science budget.
SLS is being paid for out of the manned space side of the house. The
two budgets have not changed much since last year, so that means JWST,
not SLS killed Mars. I wrote here months ago that the damned thing
should have been canceled (and its designers/managers never again
allowed anywhere near spacecraft planning.) Now we're paying through
the nose for not getting rid of JWST while we had the chance. Goodbye
Mars, and all that Mars operations technical excellence we've built up
over the past 15 years.

Of course you are right Brian, but I can't help wonder if SLS is not the JWST
of HSF.
