Default Sources For OTA...

My club is converting a 26" truss dob newtonian into a cassegrain for
our observatory. The primary was orignally in a cassegrain so the
central hole is already there.

We need an OTA for the project and assume it will have to be custom
made.

Any suggestions on suppliers?

Thanks,
Dave

Hi Dave,

I used to own a 26" truss tube dob with a central hole in the
primary. Did you buy it from a guy in Kentucky? A 26" mirror w/center
hole is an unusual mirror size/configuration, so if it is my old scope
and primary, I have information about it you might like to know.

Jim,

No...this mirror was originally surplus from the JPL here in the
Baltimore area. It was actually rescued from the scrap heap,
refigured and recoated. Since the club had no observatory, it made
sense to put it in a truss dob rather than the Cassegrain.

We are building an obseratory so now was the time to convert it back.
The actual dimensions are 25.657".

Thanks for the response though.

Regards,
Dave

Ooop...After my post I got corrected by another club member. While
the cell that the mirror is in is 26" the actual mirror is 24.657 not
25.657. My fault...I wrote down the wrong numbers at the last
meeting.

Not a big deal...just a big OTA! :-)
