It's limited to a few kilometers, certainly not 700km like the neutrinos
are doing in this case.

It's limited to a few kilometers, certainly not 700km like the neutrinos are
doing in this case.


The antenna is in Upper Michigan, and is used to communicate with submarines
throughout the world, at very low bit rates. But the speed of ULF waves through
the earth is certainly not c, so this would be no test of fundamental physics (I
don't know what the effective index of refraction for rock is in this band).
There would also be HUGE ambiguities in the timing of ULF waves that would make
such a measurement unable to make a significant measurement of signal speed.

What is the path of these waves? What first came to my mind was

It looks like those waves travel around the curve of the surface, not
the straight line through the earth.
