Default Fuji Provia 100F vs. 4MP digicam on the Full Moon

Hi All,

Thought you might find this comparison interesting. Both of these shots were
taken the same night about 10 minutes apart, with the same telescope and
equipment, except the the film shot was taken at prime focus and the digicam
shot was taken with afocal projection. One was taken with Fuji Provia 100F
and the other with a 4 megapixel Olympus C4000Z. The shot taken with the
Provia 100F was not enhanced at all except for levels. Not so for the one
with the digicam.

The shots:

Fuji Provia 100F:

Olympus C4000Z:

Film wins!!

With a little bit of PhotoShop specifically curves to bring out contrast the
digital image can look a lot better. In either case you are not seeing the
real image. The slide was obviously scanned and did go through changes based
on the scanner settings and the digital image probably isn't the RAW image
converted directly to jpg.
