Default Searching for aerodynamic data of the Space Shuttle

Hi everybody,

I'm an aerospace student at the Technische Universitaet Berlin, Germany.
For my diploma thesis, I need some data about the aerodynamic of the
Space Shuttle.
In detail, I need some information about the lift coefficient and the
drag coefficient when angle of attack and machnumber are given.

I searched for these data at teh NASA website, the database of the
Dryden Flight Research Center, the AICC, some libraries, bit I didn't
succeed.

Can anybody give ma a hint where I can find these data ?

Thank you very much !
Reiner

Here's one for starters that ought to provide some help:

http://www.dfrc.nasa.gov/DTRS/1999/PDF/H-2287.pdf

I know there are other documents out there, but it might take me some time
to find them. You have to sometimes be creative about your search phrase
using the NASA Technical Reports Server.

Too bad Mary appears to still be on vacation; orbiter aerodynamics is
her bread-and-butter, isn't it?

Mine and my husband's, actually. He's the third author on this paper.
He's written at least one other on the subject, so a search of the
DTRS for Iliff should be helpful.

I'm not on vacation, exactly. My laptop is broken. I'm going on
vacation, to Iowa, for a week, though. By then, my laptop should
reappear.

Be on the lookout for conspiratorial old men mumbling repeatedly about
SRB crossings, cryogenic cold soaking and the like. Such men may be
dangerous and obviously need medication.

If you're headed to Ames, I'll be glad to show you around...what little
there is.

made the sensational claim that:

Been there, seen Lake Latrine, the Aerospace E department, and the
dorm my husband lived in. Got several t-shirts and a couple of pairs
of socks (loved the student store). Did they ever tear down those
dorm towers that were supposed to be of limited life? I'd heard they
were actually going to do so, many years after the original date.

We're going to the north-east corner, where my husband is from.
Family visit, you know. We'll go over to Marquette/Macgregor to the
gaming boat for lunch at the buffet--we're meeting a guy I know
through Usenet who writes mysteries. He lives one county over from
where we'll be, which isn't very far at all.

Oops, I hit "send" too soon.

Thank you for the kind invitation. Had we planned to be in the
neighborhood, we'd have taken you up on your offer in a heartbeat.

When we went back there some twenty years or so after Ken left, he was
dismayed at how it looked without the elms. When we went back about
thirty years after, he was amazed at the new buildings. He'd need a
guide, he says.

Well, if you're going to call it that, it might be best if you stay
away.

The dorms are still there, presuming you mean the Tower dorms about 1
mile S of campus. I think they are supposed to start tearing down the
first of them next year, with the others to follow. There must be some
kind of replacement...not sure what, as they are building new dorms by
Friley (the one just across the street from all the bars S of campus).

Thank you for the kind invitation. Had we planned to be in the

No problem. Anything to meet the famous Mary Shafer!

It's actually a pretty campus, lots of trees (though I don't know what
trees they took out that you're talking about). I have seen a lot
worse, that's for sure..... More new buildings just since I got here
three years ago, it's amazing how they keep putting them up.

Sounds like a good time...and better to come now than in January! Have
a good trip!
