Default Selected Restricted NASA Videotapes

SELECTED RESTRICTED NASA VIDEOTAPES
By Michael Ravnitzky ,

The following is a selected list of Restricted NASA Videotapes, drawn from a
complete list I received from NASA last week.

The tapes are restricted for a variety of reasons, many of which are
highlighted below.

YOU CAN ASK FOR ANY OF THESE VIDEOTAPES FROM NASA-Johnson Space Flight
Center in Houston (address listed below) by requesting them and mentioning
the Freedom of Information Act in your letter.

A complete copy of the NASA List of Restricted Films will be posted on the
internet sometime soon * keep an eye out for it in the usual places, or use
a search engine after February 10, 2004 to locate it on the web. Or if you
are impatient, you can ask NASA Johnson for a copy of the complete list.

Default Selected Restricted NASA Videotapes

Forgive me for being thick here, but what is the issue here?

I can understand that you might want to test the law against the advice of
those who placed restrictions on the tapes, but there is also an issue of
privacy. Does the Freedom of info act mean that nobody who is working for
Government has any privacy at all if on duty, as it were... Potentially, you
could video people going to the toilet or naked etc, and they could not say,
ahem, I'd rather only staff saw this footage.

OK, I can see how some of what you list might be seen as someone covering up
incidents or information at debriefs and meetings, but I dunno, where do you
draw the line here?

Brian

Mr. Ravnitzky, who posted the list, is a self-described anti-secrecy
activist. He is not really concerned with the content of information that
the government refuses to release, only the fact that the government refuses
to release it. He starts from the assumption that government should not
keep any secrets. He has no particular interest in NASA over any other
government agency.

He hopes that by posting this list, many people will file FOIA requests for
the information.

Much of what is on this list pertains to crew medical information and is not
releasable.
