3.5 times more efficient than a standard internal combustion
engine.

Perhaps society will have some resources left over to
develop fusion propulsion for space craft and then..................

To the Mexican border on a tank of gasoline would be nice.

Was I optimistic?.........................Trig

I can shoot my sperm that far...Of course, it's not that hard, given
that it's only about 50 miles from here....

****ing liar.

As Fred pointed out, it depends on how far you live from the border.
For me, getting to the Mexican border on one tank of petrol would be a
neat trick - I live in Melbourne Australia! ;-)

I'll be paying more attention to this engine, the "Wave Disc Generator".

Because of the reduction in moving parts.

The ideal gas engine for a hybrid car is internal combustion
non-reciprocating, either Wave Disk or a more conventional turbine coupled to
an alternator. Lightest wins. Gas engines are more efficient when they can be
tuned for a small number of constant RPMs operation. You put electric motors
on each axle and distribute torque electrically in real-time to minimize loss
and maximize power.

A small lightweight high voltage battery to act as capacitive ballast and
you've got a 70MPG hybrid-electric vehicle with 0-60 MPH in under 6 seconds
and a 600 mile range on an 8 1/2 gallon tank.

What would be interesting about the Wave Disk is if you could stack 'em with
different blade configurations driving a common drive shaft to provide say two
or more ranges of high efficiency RPM operation depending upon the drive load.
I'm not sure this is as easy to do *efficiently* with a conventional turbine.

Looking for relevance to sci.space.xxx ?

See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Humphrey_cycle

This Wave Disk engine is a close cousin to our well discussed PWDE (pulse-wave
detonation engine)...

There is not much relevance other than the general economy needs
something to boost it. A new engine of greater efficiency MIGHT help
IF permitted to do so.

I clearly missed the PWDE memo/thread(s). Thanks for the search
phrase.
