NASA AWARDS SPACE STATION INTEGRATION & CONTROL CONTRACT

NASA has awarded a contract with a potential value of
$178 million for International Space Station Program
Integration and Control services to Applied Research and
Engineering Sciences Corp. of Burlingame, Calif.

Work under the contract will provide products and services
supporting Space Station Program, business and configuration
management. It also supports data integration, program
information technology, international partner elements
integration management, systems analysis and integration,
engineering and technical services and safety and mission
assurance.

The basic period of the cost-plus-award-fee contract is four
years and nine months with an estimated value as much as
$120.2 million. Two one-year extension options are available
and, if fully exercised, could bring the total contract value
to $178 million. Subcontractors for the contract include Booz
Allen Hamilton, Houston and Spacehab, Inc., Webster, Texas.
Work on the contract will be performed at NASA's Johnson Space
Center in Houston and locations inside and outside of the
United States.

This contract is being awarded as part of a restructuring of
Station contracts. The goal is to consolidate work, increase
efficiency, increase accountability, and transition the
program's contract strategy from development and construction
of hardware to orbital operations.

More information about Space Station contract strategy,
including a complete background and history, is available on
the Internet at:
