Default Media invited to student session wit ISS crew

November 4, 2003

John Ira Petty
Johnson Space Center, Houston
(281) 483-5111

More than 500 students are expected to gather at Space Center Houston
Thursday morning to ask questions of the International Space Station crew.
The event, called "Earth, A Unique Perspective," begins at 9:07 a.m. and
concludes at 9:20 a.m. CST.

Other students across the country will be able to watch Michael Foale, ISS
commander and NASA science officer, and Flight Engineer Alexander Kaleri
field elementary and middle school students' questions in the orbiting
laboratory, traveling at five miles a second about 237 miles above the
Earth. The session also will be carried live on NASA Television.

Elementary Students will be able to see Space Station science in action and
learn how space research benefits people here on Earth. They also will learn
about geography, Earth and environmental sciences, human impact on our
planet and more.

News media representatives are invited to cover the event. Reporters and
photographers should be prepared to show proper identification at Space
Center Houston, 1601 NASA Parkway.
