Anyone aware of a book of cryogenic organic syntheses? Also, what is the

@sp6iad.superfeed.net: Anyone aware of a book of cryogenic organic syntheses? Also, what is the current method of producing cryogenic hydrogen? Steam reduction of methane (natural gas) produces the hydrogen, a bulk process used by the oil and plastics industry. Compressors and heat exchangers refrigerate the hydrogen. (Liquid oxygen is derived directly from the air by the same process.) Organic synthesis at very low temperatures is possible by input of solar ultraviolet radiation which converts simple hydrocarbons like methane into more complex molecules. Lightning discharge in a similar environment on even the cold gas giants can produce more complex hydrocarbons. So far as we know, biological processes at very low temperatures are not possible. --Damon |
