So what? Science works by testing hypotheses. If one knew for sure
whether one would find something, one would not have to look. But
people don't, so they look, and the results can rule out some
hypotheses.

At least there is indirect evidence for dark matter, which is more than
some other ideas have going for them.

Many hypotheses have been ruled out. That's how science progresses. If
an alternative to dark matter has a testable, non-adjustable prediction
confirmed, then our confidence in it will be increased, but that hasn't
happened.

Note also that you would have said "NOPE" to the neutrino even a couple
of decades after it was postulated.

I would like to see a Dark Matter hypothesis test for:
presently extremely cold hydrogen Bose Einstein Condensate
scaled to Big Bang soup colligative properties
as hinted by

That is yet another assumption passed off as absolute fact.

[moderator take note]

[Mod. note: reformatted. He's assuming that you say 'NOPE' when there
is no direct evidence for a particle's existence. Perhaps you need to
clarify if that's not the case -- mjh]

The beta decay mystery and the neutrino candidacy for an explanation
is not equivalent to the dark matter mystery and the insistence that
it must be explained by a hypothetical exotic particle with adjustable
properties and an apparently infinite parameter space to play hide and
seek with.

Note also that you are assuming you know what PH was assuming in his
imaginative narrative about my hypothetical behavior in fictitious
events.

[Mod. note: yeah. It's OK, on this newsgroup or in life in general, to
have mental models of other people -- mjh]

Actually that's called profiling and while I agree, it should be deemed
OK, part of society has decided it's not OK AND they seem to be rather
vehement about it.

[Mod. note: it's called theory of mind, and you really don't do very
well without it. This part of the discussion is now closed as
off-topic -- mjh]
