Default Foundation on Olbers' Paradox

This is the beginning of a conversation that I hope will have thoughtful and
diverse participation.

Many of the advances in science have been due to the discovery of paradoxes
and the eventual paradigm shift that resolves them. On occasion a paradox
is thought to be resolved and the scientific community closes the book on
it. Only later, a lowly undergrad student, layperson or highly regarded
expert in the field, finds reason to reopen the book and start a journey
that ends in new ideas and a new model of the universe. I think I have
found a paradox that the book has been closed on for a long time. New
observations make it necessary to reopen this book and verify it contents
and conclusions.

My introduction to this paradox came from a non-fiction essay "The Black Of
Night" by Dr. Isaac Asimov from a essay collection titled "Of Time, Space,
And Other Things", A Discus Book published By Avon © 1975. Due to the age,
this article may be difficult for you to find. I would like to provide a
PDF document, but legally I can't at this time. However, at
http://home.comcast.net/~h_olbers/ is a presentation of the points and
consequences of the paradox.

Please note that my web publishing software indicates it will take 20.5
minutes to download this page if you have a 28.8-dialup connection. The web
page is best viewed if your monitor is set to a resolution 1024x768 or
greater. Additionally, no e-mail associated with this site will be
accepted.

Using information in the website as a foundation, I hope that any faults or
difficulties in grasping this concept can be rectified before I present any
additional ideas related to this. My current plan:

1.. Have an open discussion in this and other related news groups.
2.. Make any required changes to the website as the discussion continues.
3.. Add the follow-on concepts and return to step one.

While I have a fairly complete document that describes where I am going with
this, I really would like to explore the underlying premise before revealing
all. The document's PDF file is currently 20 MB in size, and the associated
Excel spreadsheets occupy an additional 235 MB. This is much too large a
volume of data for the average news group reader to download and review.
However, if someone wishes to review this material, there may be a way by
using other methods of communication.

Updates to the website will be noted as part of this thread.
