I guess we'll see. I'll be in the deep South later this week. Hey, that
wouldn't happen to be a Canadian Goose thigh and drumstick, would it?

"Windows."
This is, as you suspect (or already know), a derisive term for a
product that I and millions of other Windows users think is most worthy
of derision.

Hi Davoud:

OK, _now_ I understand, thanks. I guess I don't spend much time agonizing over
computer Operating systems. If a machine will run Word, Skytools, Registax and
internet software, I don't give much of a flip.

But I must say "Doze" or "Windoze" looks and sounds just a little silly--to me
anyway. Why not just say "Windows 98" or whatever? Oh, I guess I STILL don't
get it. ;-)

It was not a false assertion. I was passing on an assessment made by someone I
know at Adobe, who I happen to believe has an accurate handle on things there.
I'm not going to say who, since the official line has clearly been given by your
source. Obviously, if Adobe is looking to get away from supporting Macs they
aren't going to advertise it in advance, especially if they currently have an
agreement in place with Apple.

That's all I'm going to say about this. The thread has drifted way too far from
its origin, a reasonable discussion of scientific image processing software
available for Macs.

Heh. For an astronomical analogy, consider Scott McPherson, a known
Celestron basher. For Scott, Meade is a religion - this extreme bias makes
him completely unable to say anything positive about Celestron, no matter
what Celestron does. If Celestron produced a goto Dob, he would say
it was the worst thing ever. If it was by Meade, it would of course be the
best thing since sliced bread. I guess The Shawn would consider it a
serious mental illness. :-)

You must have missed part of this thread. Mr. Peterson published an
assertion and cited the source as an anonymous Adobe employee.

Didn't miss a lick. I have been following the thread.

I knew that the assertion was false, but I had no proof. My proof came from a
long-time Photoshop engineer, Chris Cox, who was willing to sign the

information that he provided. Look at the PS credits and you will see
Chris Cox's name there.

Looking for someone to give you the answer you want to hear might be proof for
you but I am a few steps down road and it doesn't look so sure fire to me.

Well, as I said, over the years I have found what Chris has posted to be
accurate, to me that is worth a great deal.

I have also been around long enough to know that Inside Scoops are not
something that someone will sign their name to. To the contrary, I am quite
aware that insiders will generally stick with the company line when confronted
when they are making a public statement. You want to get the truth, don't ask
someone to sign their name to it.....

The bottomline here is that I really don't care one way or the other but if I
were a betting man, I would bet on Chris. He was just passing along some
skuttle-butt he had heard.

Time will tell.

I'm with you, man. If it does the job you need it to do, it's all
good. You strike me as the sort of clear-headed bloke who'd
choose a good utilitarian SCT or Mak for much of your observing. ;^)

John- I invite you to go back and read again what I posted. Nobody has been
"proven" right or wrong.

All my friend said was that Adobe had planned on making V6 the last to support
the Mac, but that Apple had cut a deal to get support for some additional time.
She told me this _after_ V7 was released... it was not a prediction.

Her current opinion (I won't call it a prediction) is that V8 may be the last to
provide native Mac support. There is really nothing that can be proven or
disproven with the information currently available. Time will tell.
