ASTRO: Looking for a good RGB target for this weekend
I plan to go to the ranch this weekend and shoot images
I expect to use the PL39000C on the AP180EDT f/9 I get a FOV of 1.7 x 1.3 degrees M33 will beautifully fill that FOV but it is out of season by about 6 months what else is there that is big (besides the moon) that is in "position" this time of year? the winter nebulae are pretty much over the summer nebulae are on their way but aren't quite in position in the early evening any big galaxies that I can shoot from 37degrees north? |

M101 is as big as it gets this time of year but there are also some nice pairing of large objects that would look great in a single image; ngc4565 and ngc4494 would fit nicely in the same field. ngc5005 & ngc5033 are a fainter but also largish pair. The two globulars M53 & ngc5053 are paired up in your size field. I think you can fit M58, M59, & M60 together with assorted small ngc's. ngc4631 & ngc4656 (the wedge & sled) ngc4236 is a large galaxy but it's pretty faint. M97 & m108 are a neat pair but a bit small. And of course m81 & m82 along with the "Leo Trio" round off the list. Happy shooting! -- Adriano http://www.edmar-co.com/adriano/ 34°14'11.7"N |

The core of the Realm of the Galaxies including the Markarian Chain would be another target though you'd need a lot of exposure time. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |
