IT WAS to be the world’s first ever cosmic wedding.

Russian astronaut Yuri Malenchenko planned to exchange vows with his
earthbound sweetheart, Ekaterina Dmitriev, as he floated 240 miles
above Earth in the international space station.

Now the couple’s plans have been vaporised after Russian officials
refused to allow the ceremony.

Oh well. If they threw a handful of rice on the Space Station somebody
might breathe it in. Who was going to take a spacewalk and tie cans
and old shoes on the outside of the Station? So much for the 225-mile
high club. ;-)

Maybe Yuri will e-mail his request to get married to his superiors.

Getting married to his superiors is not be a wise alternative, and
would probably not even be allowed.

It balances out -- ask most women, they agree they got married to their
inferiors.
