Boeing CST-100 on an Ariane 5?
http://www.spaceflightnow.com/news/n1102/10cst100/
This could be a golden opportunity for the Europeans to beat the Indians to a manned space flight. They're already thinking about modifying their ATV for manned launches but this could take a decade or more since it would be costly. Not so much due to the complexity but due to the fact that European industry would see this as a golden opportunity to rake in more euros and because a fistfight may break out between French and German conglomerates as to who would build it. Although the chances are good that if they took this path the Indians would simply purchase a CST-100 themselves and bolt it onto a GLSV. |
