ASTRO: Back on the newsgroup
I have not been able to read the newsgroup for a few weeks while waiting for
ComCast to xfer my account from Adelphia. Adelphia killed their news servers when I got switched to Comcast domain but Comcast took forever to get my an account so I could access their servers. Anyway, It's great to catch up and see all the images posted while I was off line. Hope we get over our blizzard soon... might be able to make an image myself. -- Regards, Doug W. www.photonsfate.com -- |

With a new server you might want to compare it to the 4 week archive of this group at: http://www.usenet-replayer.com/webrings/astro.html It misses some but every now and then catches some my ISP's server doesn't get. By clicking A on a sender then clicking G on any picture that brings up you can often go back a few days further or pick up additional shots it missed the other way. Found my B33 picture didn't show unless I did that for some reason. Found a few others whose posts got lost that way as well. I finally had 2 clear days and pulled to all nighters. Last night had better seeing than I've had in months but high clouds as well. Unfortunately no processing time due to the holidays. Expect a few postings soon as snow is forecast from your storm starting tonight. We won't get hit like you did however. Or so they say. Which is good as I have 0.6 miles of "drive" to blow to reach the township road which rarely gets plowed until a day or two later. Rick -- Correct domain name is arvig and it is net not com. Prefix is correct. Third character is a zero rather than a capital "Oh". |

Hi Rick... Looks like ComCast will be okay... I can still see your images
from 11/27. The storm has passed from our area and I can see some blue sky at present. We did not get a lot of snow, but the wind was steady at 18mph with gusts and that made for white outs and drifts. It still looks strong as it moves your way so gas up the blower. -- Regards, Doug W. www.photonsfate.com -- "Rick Johnson" wrote in message ... Thanks George... We did not lose power at my location so all is well. I
checked the dome and it was dry in there... I run a small heater to keep frost from forming. -- Regards, Doug W. www.photonsfate.com -- "George" wrote in message ... "Doug W." wrote in message ... Regards, Doug W. www.photonsfate.com Good idea. Now if you can come up with a way to keep the dome from getting buried by ten feet snow drifts! Lol! Happy holidays. Doug,
the snow in some part of the US even made it into german TV news. Quite a contrast to our weather, Berlin has seen no snow at all since last winter, today we had +6 degrees Celsius and it felt cold because we had up to 15 degrees recently. Much too warm obviously... Stefan "Doug W." schrieb im Newsbeitrag ... I have not been able to read the newsgroup for a few weeks while waiting for ComCast to xfer my account from Adelphia. Storm went south of us leaving mostly rain where it went through
Minnesota. Result was we got only a dusting which is now melting. Weather map says we are in the 95% zone for a white Christmas. Will be a 5% year this year. Now if that had translated into few clouds I'd take it but we got twice the clouds and virtually no rain or snow for the sacrifice. It snowed flurries for days on end and they totaled maybe 5 mm at best. Frustrating. We need the moisture. Grass fires are a problem and that never happens this time of the year as the grass should be under 17" of snow by now. Stefan, The West has taken the hit in snow. In the eastern US it is very abnormally warm. So far in 2006 we've had the latest snow on record and the lowest snow level. Also, unfortunately we've had the most rain ever recorded in 2006, which of course translates into the most cloudiness. Hopefully things will improve. George N |
