Wherein it says,

Another U.S. defense official who also asked not to be named said
the most immediate
monitoring of the Iranian test came from the USS Russell in the
Persian Gulf using its radar.

This is interesting (though I imagine DSP played a useful role too).
The launch site is in north central Iran, at 35.234 N, 53.921 E, at
least 700 km from the Persian Gulf (the north end) and 1000 km from
the southern part, near the Strait of Hormuz. At 700 km, the just-on-
the-horizon altitude above the launch site is about 40 km, so it seems
unlikely the Russell got good data from the early part of the Safir's
flight. At a guess, it was further south in the Gulf and the Iranians
launched toward the Arabian Sea, so second stage flight was above the
ship's horizon.

NEWS FLASH!!!

AUSTRALIA HAS JUST LAUNCHED ITS FIRST SATELLITE BY INDEPENDENT MEANS!

Sure, but don't forget the satellite was made by HP in Cupertino!

I don't know enough about the history of HP calculators to be 100%
certain, but I'm _pretty_ sure that going back at least as far as 1988
they were neither designed, nor made in Cupertino. For some reason
Corvalis and perhaps Singapore come to mind.

I wonder how HP calculator revenue compares to the budget of SpaceX?-)

No need to believe in either side, or any side. There is no cause.
There's only yourself. The belief is in your own precision. - Jobert
these opinions are mine, all mine; HP might not want them anyway...
feel free to post, OR email to rick.jones2 in hp.com but NOT BOTH...

Well, if it's up there sooner or later someone will spot it on radar or

....Apparently there's no Skudnik in orbit. But then again, remember
the motto of their space program:

"We hit the stars, but we keep aiming for Israel!"

LOL they should call it YASV (Yet Another Scud Variant).

Yeah, they are somewhat married to the technology.

The Chinese are giving them their nuclear and missile technology to
gain their support in stealing their oil, and keeping it out of US
hands. They're also building a circle of border States to give them
access to the world's oceans and build a barrier to US expansion.

http://www.chinadaily.com.cn/english...ent_387140.htm

Korea gives access on China's East, and focuses US attention there,
and Iran gives access on the West, and focuses US attention there.
Pakistan, on the Chinese South (the chinese helped Khan with the first
Muslim bomb there) and they have a presence there, and it gives them
easy access to India.
.
http://www.mapsofindia.com/worldmap/world-map.gif

They very likely control the trade in loose nukes from the former
Soviet Union given their access to Soviet secrets during the cold war
(they are the only major power still avowedly communist) and those are
likely in the hands of muslim extremists in the Chinese far west.

The USA has been neutralized and corrupted by low cost goods built by
Communist Chinese controlled slave labor and distributed by US
companies, in return for manufacturing know-how, the USA has been
neutralized and corrupted by low cost credit to prop up US finances,
from world's largest bank, The Central Bank of the People's Republic
of China,in return for control of the value of US currency, the USA
has been neutralized and corrupted by low cost drugs from the Golden
Triangle controlled by US gangs, in return for control of US inner
cities at night.

Terror groups that have openly attacked the United States are being
given safe haven and support on the Chinese border, where they are
planning attacks against the US and Europe with loose nukes from the
former Soviet Republic.

It is obvious to me,that if nothing is done to correct this situation,
the USA and its allies face significant challenges in the future. The
most likely outcome? Terror attacks with loose nukes in the USA
against major cities, followed by the coordinated reduction of credit
from China reducing the USA to secod world status, and likely the
release of engineered and weaponized disease agents under the cover of
nuclear fallout effects, combined with defacto control of US gangs by
Chinese agents in what remains of US major cities - and corruption of
our military who are called back to maintain order inside US borders
in the wake of massive reductions in living standards.

We will then be the world's richest bannana republic, and recede from
the world scene as Japan and the Asian Tigers re-align toward China.

If a nuclear war between pakistan and india draw china in, then the US
might have a hope of extending its tenure long enough to do the things
it should have done in the 60s and 70s - but failing that, the end
game is pretty much already written.
