WHO IS NASA KIDDING????
For all the months I have spent recreating the fire, trying to
replicate the size of the Command Module based upon photographs, books, and films, I cannot convey the utter SHOCK I experienced today as I stood less than a foot from Apollo 17. Let me give you a perfect frame of reference: Lie down on your back. Leaving your elbow on the ground, bend your arm 90 degrees until your fingers point to the ceiling. Add three inches. THAT IS IT. THAT is the distance between an Apollo astronaut and the Main Display Console. And there is not one inch between one couch and the next. (NOTE: Yes, I know that's Block II, but the SIZE did not change from Block I.) Now, I remember some fool (I'll have to review the testimony to find the name) said he thought Gus "jumped out of his couch" immediately after the fire broke out. Question: WHERE DID HE JUMP? Have you ever SEEN a Command Module? The ONLY thing Gus could have TRIED to do would have been to climb onto Ed's chest (he had a rotation controller to maneuver around), but given the height constraints I just described and the fact that both men were in fully-inflated PGA's with helmets on, I am declaring that scenario to be IMPOSSIBLE (Not to mention, if Gus HAD done such a thing, Ed could not have gotten out of his couch.) Gus had to wait for Ed to insert the hatch removal tool, turn it the necessary number of turns, and then get out of his couch. ONLY THEN could Gus have squeezed himself between Ed and the rotation controller to clear his couch. As for Borman's "wall of flames" that allegedly kept Gus from hitting the relief valve, after seeing up close the actual distance from the source of the flames and the relief valve, vs. the location (both Block One; I'm only talking DISTANCE) of the T-handle to the translation controller and the TVC switch on Panel 24, I can forever declare that "wall of flames" to be EVERY BIT as ridiculous as the "magic bullet." If Borman were standing before me right now, I would do my very BEST imitation of Buzz Aldrin with Bart Sibrel. I am fit to be TIED. HOW DARE HE! |

This is a troll. Please ignore any statements regarding the Apollo 204
fire from this person. |

Ah, so much for freedom of speech. :-) Sounds like I've attracted the
attention of a NASA apologist! I NEVER refer to it as "Apollo 204," and neither do most people in ordinary conversation. |

It's no different from JTM, or Donna UnWise. -- Alan Erskine We can get people to the Moon in five years, not the fifteen GWB proposes. Give NASA a real challenge |

Mr. Erskine! So I see the reports of your untimely demise have been
highly overrated. LOL But, I should be hurt considering I've been arguing on your behalf in your absence. :-) And, if you would like to use my name, in the future please try to get it right. Thank you, and welcome back from the dead. LOL |
