In a nutshell: "Our results demonstrate that individuals will forego economically beneficial options if these options promote a value that is in conflict with their political ideology."

Only when I stop seeing gas-guzzling cars and SUVs with liberal
candidates' bumper stickers plastered all over the back will I start
worrying about how much energy CFLs might save (not much.)

Does anyone know if Malibu Barb ever got around to installing a
clothes-line in her backyard?

I don't much like the CFL lamps, because of their slow turn on time.
But I've started replacing a few lights with LEDs, and they are
greatly superior. High efficiency, good color, instant on, dimmable.

(Personally, cost isn't a dominating factor for me. I base my buying
decisions on value, which isn't the same thing at all.)

I "operate" the same way when it comes to buying decisions. Chris, what
LED bulbs have you bought that have "good color?" I've not yet explored
the market for bulbs to replace incandescents, and I've found most LED
flashlights, for example, to produce overly blue light. The degrees
Kelvin of a halogen would be, to me, ideal.

There are Philips LED spotlights that more or less duplicate 2700K
incandescent output but with if anything too much directionality in the
beam. I got some remaindered ones as they brought out the newest model.

I would not pay 3x as much for the full price newer model!

I have been caught out recently by LED lamps being brighter and in some
cases "too bright" for the duty as compared to the CFL they replaced
with the same nominal incandescent output equivalent. Major advantage on
stairways is that they give full brightness from the start.

LED's are greenie B.S. They "save" energy but need expensive and
resource-consuming aluminum heat sinks and electronics to work.
Unlike a incandescent that needed only a tiny amount of tungsten, and
some glass.

yea but you'll never convince these hockey pucks....all they "see" is
the hockey stick.....chrissy poo is digging himself out of MAY snows and
well you know the rest.... idiots
