mystery satellite-like object over Hawaii

Folks hereabouts may enjoy the mystery shown in today's Astronomy

The all-aky CCD cameras at both Haleakala (Maui) and Maune Kea
(Hawaii) recorded a bright object slowly moving eastward from
about 1419-1440 UT on last Dec. 17. The angular speed changes
significantly across the series of 3-minute exposures, first
increasing and later dropping off as it crosses perhaps 90 degrees
of sky.

Anybody missing a booster?
