MIT OpenCourseware - Aerospace classes
Just an FYI to all you self-starters out there (especially
non-engineers/non-techies) who want to get a better handle on some of the why's and wherefore's of aircraft, spacecraft and the like, MIT has released a whole slew of completely free, web-based educational materials from around 500 different classes accessible via their website. Here's a link to the list of aerospace-oriented class materials available: http://ocw.mit.edu/OcwWeb/Global/all...cs%20and%20Ast ronautics The individual classes seem to have links to download class lecture notes (handwritten pages converted to .pdf's in some cases, no less!), assignment lists and so forth. -- Herb Schaltegger, B.S., J.D. Hmm, seems useful although I didn't see anything about the design of rocket engines. I can never keep track of the difference between gas generator, expander cycle, etc, and it would be useful to have a resource. I suppose I should buy some of the dead tree texts, but between the cost and the space they take up on the shelf and such, I haven't gotten around to it. The other fact, of course, is that OpenCourseware notes are designed to supplement a textbook, rather than (in most cases) replace one. |
