New home page section on 'orbital mechanics'
The shuttle will be linking up with the space station within the hour. It's the most dramatic moment of the flight so far since launch -- 'two whales mating', it's been called. Gently, very gently. Reference my home page, a new special section on 'orbital mechanics': http://www.jamesoberg.com/trajectories.html where detailed discussions of how it's done can be found. 'Rendezvous' was my professional specialty at Mission Control and I literally 'wrote the book'. |

New home page section on 'orbital mechanics'
After downloading the program "Orbiter" and spending a week playing
with it, I have an incredible respect for the difficulty of orbital rendezvous. I can't recommend "Orbiter" enough to folks who want some "hands-on" time. http://orbit.medphys.ucl.ac.uk/orbit.html |

Searching for Oberg gets me http://www.sciamdigital.com/index.cfm?fa=Products.ViewIssuePreview&ARTICLEID_C HAR=1AEE051C-802E-4DBF-8F55-6E9C4AF746A, which has the teaser and "ADD TO CART", since I'm not logged in as a digital subscriber. /dps |
