Robots are the way to go!
50 years from now, robots will be smart enough to assemble a prefabricated base on Mars for humans, we just go there to turn it on and enjoy!
Same like with the space station, put together from modules built on earth and astronauts just went up, turned it on and make it run!

Robots are notoriously bad at extricating themselves from situations not explicitly in their programming.
