The pngs worked for me once I combined the two posts. However, jpg works
best for a.b.p.a.

what format is it in? I recognize the software you're using
as I have it myself.

It's a freeware version of Globalmapper licensed through the USGS. The

On 18 January, 2007, the U.S.G.S. internet distributed the ULCN 2005
topographic DEM (Archinal et al 2006c). The ULCN 2005 DEM can be
displayed using USGS using private vendor software licensed by the USGS
for free public redistribution (Archinal et et al 2006c, USGS 2006f).
The freeware also allows to user to register images to the DEM, to
overlay DEM contours onto a user image, and to graph line-of-sight
elevation profiles.

The DEM has really low resolution. You won't be seeing 5km craters
leaping out like in the USGS Map-A-Planet relief map. But it useful for
these types of questions about long distance (plus 100km) grades.

I don't recall the specific format that is in the LPOLY.zip file, but it
was native to Globalmapper and I didn't have any problems loading it up.

It was taken very hastily at prime focus and is not up to the usual
standards. Mostly, I was trying to get a quick image to document the
enhanced shadow-albedo effect. The image was also not taken by me
personally, but was taken by a docent at my request as an aside at a local
university star party. He ran the scope and camera with me directing where
to point. He's a DSO guy and not lunar imager, hence the low resolution
and marginal focus on the 14 inch. I did the post digital processing using
API4WIN from the 80 fits images that he captured.

Kurt,

I'm not much of a lunar/planetary observer myself - but that's mostly
because of our always-poor seeing thanks to the Great Lakes and the jet
stream. However, sometimes there's just nothing else to do, so I give it a
try. We have a C-14, but I've not used it for imaging in years. I'll have to
give it a try right after I get our A-P refractor polar aligned.

I have gigs of hi res data. For instance, I have all of CA
and NV at 30 meter resolution.
