ASTRO: NGC 2903
Conditions were not good enough for faint stuff in two recent nights with an
almost closed cover of thin clouds (the clouds were only in the region around Berlin of course, about 80% of germany had clear skies). To my amazement the clouds did not destroy the pictures completely, they "just" raised the background level by about 50%, so I imaged NGC 2903. Taken from the middle of Berlin with a C8 at f/7 on a G11 mount, SXV-H9 camera, 47x5 minutes. The image can also be found at http://www.slilge.de/temp/2903-47x5gut.jpg Stefan |

I'm glad they left me but they weren't under orders to head to Berlin! Odd, but I reimaged 2903 a couple weeks ago (last time was by the 6" f/4. I'm finding too much blue in the dust lanes. Not sure why. Going to try again on it before posting. Think you have more detail than I got though, without the clouds and light pollution, I picked up more of the outer arms. Last night started good but half way through the color frames of my first shot fog rolled in putting an end to the evening. Forecast is for more of the same tonight. Maybe I can get time to finish the color. Hope the fog gods aren't on usenet. If the fog does return I'll work on 2903 and see if I can get something worth posting. ASTRO: NGC 2903
that looks cool Stefan
This spring I think I am going to try for a few galaxies if the weather cooperates. There's usually about a month that there aren't any nebulae of consequence very handy so that's a good time for those cool looking spirals. The 18" is just the thing for them too...
