Why yes, but since the US system of government is not a "democracy," so

Nonsense. This is one of the stupidest arguments pseudointellectuals
love to offer. A democracy is any system in which political choice is
largely in the hands of the electorate. That includes the U.S.

Incorrect on all counts.

In a democracy "the people" can choose to make any decision about anything. That would mean "the people" could, for example, choose to confiscate your property for no reason other than they think it's a good idea. They could vote to do even worse things.

That is NOT how government is supposed to work in the United States.

A 2013 article?
Most British mobile phone users have a two year contract which includes a
"free phone".

That is what many US cell phone users have as well.

Only infrequent users and those who wish to hide their identity have pay as
you go.

Are either of those a problem for you?

Why should they be a problem to me.

How about lower cost? Is THAT a problem for you?

Vodafone have several contracts for iPhone 6 including pre-purchase, pay
half the cost of the phone and pay nothing for the phone. All of these add
up to the same price over 2 years.

Fond of these ancient newspaper articles aren't you?

There is plenty of wifi coverage so not as much need to use 3G/4/G.
I use BT wifi and assign a small part of my wifi to other BT users. In
return I have wifi hotspots all over the country to use so I don't often
need to use my Vodafone 3G or 4G.

The UK has a pop density more than 6x that of the Lower 48 States. It
should be comparatively easy to provide coverage in the UK.

The government has gone even further than standardisation and is about to
compel phone companies to share their towers in areas where coverage from
some operators is poor.

There are dead zones even in London.

Didn't you read what I wrote about sharing towers? That's why it is being
introduced.
Concentrate!

Succinct but true.

The only true democracy is a democracy of one and that's ignoring all the external survival pressures in a modern society.
Anything approaching true democracy does not exist anywhere on the planet.
Anyone who believes that their "democratic" vote has any meaning [at all] badly needs psychiatric care.

Even the highest ranking members of a "democratic government" must "follow the leader" or resign.
The ritual lies, dressed as promises, which the elected immediately discarded on "obtaining power," are no less evil than the lies of a despotic dictatorship.
Only a fool is taken in by "one issue/one party" voting choices.
Vote for any party and you get the whole [damned] package.
As decreed by the democratically chosen dictator of the day.
The yes men crowd around the leader in the desperate hope of remaining seated on the gravy train.
Until it is finally derailed by the next "unfortunate" election of new yes men.

The proof, if proof were needed, is to simply ask yourself what your vote has meant over your entire voting lifetime.
Democracy is a desperate form of superstition in electoral cause and affect..
Aided and abetted by the utterly corrupt, mutually-parasitic media.

Unfortunately, for all of us, what is laughingly called "democracy" is still by far the best option amongst all the infinitely worse alternatives.
Just don't expect your superstitions to come true any time soon.
Did the societal sea change "Yes we can" movement provide any benefits, to you, at all?
Did the blocking of all governmental duties by the sociopathically-undemocratic Republican Party affect your life in any meaningful way?

At least under a democracy; your right to privacy is utterly respected by your own government and its agents...
At last under a democracy; the police, armed forces and security services will fight to the death to protect you as an ordinary citizen...
At least under a democracy; your money is spent wisely in maintaining society at an absolute optimum for all citizens and that all are treated fairly and equally...
At least under a democracy; you are kept fully informed of all aspects of government which affect your daily lives...
At least under a democracy; health, justice and education are free on demand and all are treated equally...
At least under a democracy; all enjoy the same right to life and freedom to thrive and no particular group will find themselves subject to anything less...
At least under a democracy; fighting poverty is the highest goal for all and true equality is considered by far the best measure of the success of any government...
Are you feeling lucky? ;ø]
