Well, she could if she knew where her Pratt & Whitney Vest Pocket
Aeronautical Handbook, or whatever it's called, is.

In your own time

BTW Who makes/made JP-7?

The initial work on JP-7 was done by Pratt & Whitney, Shell, and
Monsanto.

Its density, as defined in the MSDS for JP-7 ranges from
6.52 lbs/USGal to 6.74 lbs/USGal. at 59F/15C.
Calorific value is 'bout the same as any other hydrocarbon.

Japan, of all places. And they measure power in something
called PS. Anyone know how many watts in a PS? I think 1 PS =
750W, ie a "metric horsepower".

A PS (Pferdestärke) is the "metric horsepower". It is defined as 75
kgf-m/s, which works out to be 736 W or 0.986 "real" HP. It's
another ******* unit that is rapidly losing ground to the kW.

If only we could get the HVAC people to join up. Down with tons
and BTUs...

I've heard that in the US, this is one reason why kerosene (for
heating) and diesel (for driving) are different colors. I understand
you can get into trouble in the US if you're caught using kerosene in
your diesel engine of your vehicle.

No, kerosene and Diesel ARE quite different. Now, Diesel and "#2
Heat" are far closer, but the heating fuel lacks mumble-Cetanes that
the Diesel has.

Wall Street Journal, May 5, NYUE Closings for May 4, 2004

The inch closed up slightly against the cm yesterday after sluggish
trading in the metric sector.

On the other hand the Kilogram weighed in to counter the anti-metric trend
closing up 1.5 micrograms against the pound.
