I bought an LX90 very recently. I got mine from Sherwood Photos and
paid =A31,555. Don't get too hung up on the price alone .. other factors
are important too, particularly the wait time for the telescope. I
phoned around a number of places until I found the shops that actually
had one in stock (I didn't fancy waiting 6 weeks for such a significant
purchase).

I've been very impressed with the LX90 so far. It has very solid
construction and the image quality is superb. Once aligned, it is very
accurate at finding objects.

Admittedly, I don't have much to compare with the LX90 as I'm new to
astronomy.

Cheers,

The LX90 is a great scope, but if you want to do deep-sky astrophotography
then save up for an LX200. But if you want to do visual work or maybe image
the planets with a webcam then go for the LX90 and I am sure you won't be
disappointed.

David Hinds is now selling the Celestron Nextstar 8i for =A31200
(supposedly =A3210 off), with several other SCTs marked down too.
Perhaps there is a healthy outbreak of market forces....? Or is it just
stock-shifting?
