Speculation. In the past, many chemicals used in medicines were
discovered "in nature". I'd be interested in talking to several experts
to get their opinion about where they're coming from today and what the
trend is.

Wild speculation. Life, as we know it, requires liquid water. Just how
much liquid water is on Mars?

We've got a pretty good idea based on the "robots" we've sent to date.
Anyone who has had high school chemistry and physics ought to know that
temperature and pressure are key here.
