Arena telescopes
Hello chaps and chappesses.
Just received an ARENA 500mm scope for me xmas pressy. I have just set it up and a few things are clearly "cost saved" such as a fairly coarse focus, pretty wobbly tripod etc., all things I can live with. HOWEVER... I have been playing tonight using it as a terrestrial scope, as the book says, just to get acquainted with it and I am a bit dismayed to fin that the highest powered eyepeice will NOT return crisp focus. I can see people a long way off in their living rooms, but I cannot really resolve them to the same standard as I can with the lower power optical nor to the standard I might wish, or know to be acheiveable with, say, binoculars. QUESTION... will Arena optics just be poor, have I got a dud or am I doing something wrong? All help appreciated. David |

Hello David,
Perhaps you should give us a bit more info on this instrument. I have never heard of the 'Arena' brand nor can I find it on the internet. I take it 500mm refers to the focal length. So what is the aperture (diameter of the objective)? Does it accept 1.25 inch eyepieces? The more info you give, the more assistance you can get ;-) Yunus "david" wrote in message ...
