Default Northern lights (take this with a grain of salt)

Every so often, the unwashed latch onto the idea that some astronomical or Earthly phenomena is going to be spectacular. It usually ends in disappointment, whether it's a comet, or whatever.

The Weather Network:

Saturday, February 28, 2015, 3:56 PM - If you step outside this weekend, you may be able to catch a glimpse of the northern lights.

Nearly every region of Canada could see the light show, which is likely to be visible between Friday and Tuesday, courtesy of calm conditions and clear skies.

"Open skies across the nation elevates the possibility of seeing northern lights this weekend," says Weather Network meteorologist Brian Dillon.

Alas, 95% of the population of Canada is below the auroral band.

Now that's just plain wrong!!

Have you no sympathy [at all] for their auroral plight?

But wait!

Read all abaat it! Read all abaat it!

95% OF LOSERS HEADING NORTH!

Breaking News: El Presidente Putinio masses troops on Canadian border in anticipation of aurorally impoverished neighbours moving en-mass to claim massive social security handouts and free [centrally heated] luxury housing in Glorious Russian Federation during Best Winter Auroral Games on Planet![Rioters]

Absolutely. But all the indicators are there for a rapid societal collapse following some, as yet, unseen trigger. Probably starting with robotics making all manual workers completely and utterly worthless and therefore readily disposable. Rapidly followed by AI making the managing/technical/science/accounting classes into early pensioners.[If they are really lucky!] Those few still making some unique widget will soon fall foul of i[N]printing and nano-structure, iBio-tech, self assembly.

We have barely grazed the surface of these coming technologies. What is certain is that billions of useless drones become an unnecessary burden on the Earth almost overnight. Will the moneyed elite feel the need to reinvent the worker? Other than as consumers what possible purpose will the remaining members of the human race have? War, a virus or a toxin look increasingly necessary to thin things out.
