Default DOI in journals

It seems that many journals now have DOIs for articles, even for quite
old articles, for example MNRAS and PR. A&A doesn't (though A&AS does).

Why is A&A lagging behind here?

Are there any plans for A&A to introduce DOIs for older articles?
