The ships that didn't end up on the bottom of the sea were broken up, the binos sometimes show up on the market for $5000-$10000.

At least 5"-6" binoculars?
Japanese had two I-400 class aircraft carrying subs, after surrender , they were sunk by the US!
I'm sure useful things, easily removable, were taken off first, like radios, deck guns, binoculars etc...
At the end of WW2 some of the Navy ships all ready had radar, Japanese didn't have any, that's why the use of large spotting binoculars.
