Hard to say without knowing that information the virus has released, and
whether there are adequate security protocols for the data channel that
controls the satellite. In theory, in the absence of adequate controls,
and if the terrorist has obtained enough information, I suppose they
could takeover the satellite. They might need their own ground station
to do it.

On the whole, I don't see it. It would be a lot of effort to possibly
kill a handful of people who are already engaged in a dangerous
enterprise, and claims of responibility would very likely be
disbelieved. Of those who don't think it was a genuine accident, most
would probably think the CIA did it.

could a terrorist command a HTV to *ram ISS???

Vanishingly unlikely.

Could a terrorist fart and hit ISS with debris?

Well saddam H could of attempted to hit ISS with a scud, it was
theoritcally possible

ISS has been stuck by debris in the past and a scud could technically
reach iss if launched straight up

ISS has been stuck by debris in the past ...

Nothing big enough to do any significant damage, unlike the Earth.

Don't be silly!

Perigee for ISS is around 375 km. *Maximum altitude for a Scud-B
launched straight up is something like 150 km. *The 'stretched Scud'
Iraq tried to develop MIGHT have been able to reach up to 375 km, but
it's pretty bloody unlikely. *It would require that ISS perigee occur
right over Iraq and preposterous precision that the vehicle wasn't
capable of.

I'd sooner bet that you could make a basket with a spit wad from mid
court...

scud hitting iSS was discuused at the time of the war. people here
decided it was possible, aiming would be tough

Theoretically, but not an off-the-shelf Scud. It would have required
lots of upgrades.

No, Bob's right about that. There was discussion of Scud-vs-ISS in
sci.space back in the day. Bob is conveniently dismissing the amount
of work that would have been required to pull it off though. The
verdict, if I recall was, "sure, anything's possible, but that would
be a very big job for a country with many, many more urgent needs."
But then again Hitler went off on several loopy "Vengeance Weapons"
tangents (at the expense of bonafide military necessities), so no one
outright dismissed the possibility of Saddam trying to attack ISS.

Starting with substantially more delta-v. It doesn't need to enter the
same orbit as the ISS, but it does need to reach that altitude.

with a small explosive and lots of ball bearings targeting wouldnt
have to be percise.

if you think about it the ISS might not have to be in the area when a
scud detonated a clould of shrapnel or ball bearings, ISS would
conveniently pass thru the cloud, and at least damage the station
badly.........
