I ran across a great photograph of the most recent Titan II
launch, which I put up for the beauty of it at
http://nebusresearch.wordpress.com/2...march-16-1962/

But I ran across it on an old hard drive with all trace of
its origin lost. Can someone help pin down who deserves credit for
it, even if it does just turn out to be the Press Release Division
of NASA?

You sure that's 1962? Looks like one of the refurbished Tital II ICBMs
to me.

I have a copy of it too, and I labeled it "Titan IIG-9 2". I have two
other photos of the same launch, but none have EXIF information. My
best guess is that they are official USAF photos (NASA had nothing to
do with it) but they've long since dropped off the Vandenberg AFB
website.

TinEye took me to

where the credit line is "Photo: Pat Corkery/Lockheed Martin"

Yeah, the gantries and background hills make it a VAFB launch.

Ah, thank you kindly. That's got to be the right image and that
seems like a believable credit and source.

No, it's the most recent, 2003, Titan II launch. I suppose it
isn't likely there's going to be another one to follow up (there's not
even any stages outside museum pieces out there, are there? Even
engines?) but, I also like saying Harrison Schmitt was the most recent
man to set foot on the Moon.
