I had a neighbor I used to hang with who was into mirror/telescope
making. He did MANY and actually built a machine to do the boring part.
I think he eventually got up to 16" or 18" as I recall. And yes he had a
cement pillar in his back yard with a clock drive for taking cool photos!

Personally I bought a kit for a 3" mirror but never got it done. My
neighbor did introduce me to "the rule". And all my life I have found
LOTS of applications for this rule in MANY fields of endeavor.

The rule: You can build a 3", a 6" and a 12" telescope mirror in less
time that it would take you to build just the 12". Think about it.

Nice! 16" is pretty nice. And what you are supposed to think about
(which I know is going to be a strain for you) is why grinding THREE
mirrors should take less time than just grinding one. But obviously like

I can't help but wonder why so many scientists seem to be liberals and
why all liberals are so violent while accusing everyone else of being
so. The only thing childish here is YOU. And here I thought Dr. Hansen's
suggestion that "deniers" be killed was just an anomaly. But now I see
it's actual warmist policy! Obviously got interested in astronomy and
telescopes as a kid and then in spite of building great gear still never

For those who pay no attention to anything outside the Ivory Tower, the
above is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT.

While it may not be true that Sam Wormley is a fake poster (indeed a
surf of the net seems to indicate he is very real) that does NOT meant
that fake posting is not US political methodology.

OF course, Sam does have an AGENDA. I don't buy Porat's assertion that
Sam is an innocent science fan merely posting quotes and links. Yes, he
does post them. And yes, some are even interesting. But "innocent"?
Hardly. He has a story and he sticks to it. He accuses "deniers" of
ignorance and failing to believe his "obvious" wisdom. The very use of

Indeed, in my experience I have to rate Sam as A+! No, not an A+

Oh, That's right. Fake trollers. Just saw a copy of a government request
for bids on internet workstations with software. Requirements include
virtual operating systems to prevent infection by viruses, and posting
software enabling each user to use up to 18 different (fake) user names!
Gear was supposed to be supplied to U.S. Embassies. Get the picture?
One can presume that similar workstations are employed domestically as
well. (especially after the big uproar when it was discovered that some
government employees were ordered by their supervisors to surf the net
and post various political opinions instead of doing their jobs)
