Neil DeGrasse Tyson headed down same loony road as Carl Sagan?
I know you are, but what am I?

You really need to take a remedial course in reading comprehension if
you don't know the difference between "this is why it happened" and "he deserved it." Or maybe you just need to not be so ****ing stupid. Or maybe you need to take a course in writing to be understood: "Bruno wasn't burned at the stake for saying the earth reovlved around the sun, he was burned at the stake because he was a violent asshole who went to considerable trouble to get burned at the stake." But then given your entire purpose of posting here appears to be cussing out other people, maybe taking a course on anything is far more than one could ever expect from you. |

Which a) isn't actually quite what he said, and b) had *nothing* to do with his being burned at the stake. Well, in fact that is pretty much what he said, and it was most certainly an important factor in his heresy trial. A major part of his heresy was for supporting the new scientific understanding of his day. The Church was killing people who advanced accurate knowledge. That was Tyson's point, and it was well made. The Church *paid* for the Age of Enlightenment. Accidentally. I have little doubt they did not get the outcome they expected! Knowledge. The killer of religion. |

Perhaps he got so much negative feedback for his hateful propaganda, they edited it to something more factual, and you saw that edited version? Because that's certainly not what I saw. (And no, it wasn't an important factor in his trial.) A major part of his heresy was for supporting the new scientific understanding of his day. The Church was killing people who advanced accurate knowledge. That was Tyson's point, and it was well made. The Church *paid* for the Age of Enlightenment. Accidentally. Only in your hallucinations. I have little doubt they did not get the outcome they expected! Knowledge. The killer of religion. There is no conflict between science and religion, outside of your dementia. But, you *are* named Chris, so dementia is mandatory. -- Terry Austin Vacation photos from Iceland: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/QaXQkB "Terry Austin: like the polio vaccine, only with more asshole." -- David Bilek Jesus forgives sinners, not criminals. |

And any guilt the Catholic Church may or may not carry in no way relieves Neil theAss Tyson of his guilt for spreading hateful propaganda, which is the subject at hand. Like I said, there are pleanty of reasons to criticize the Catholic Church, then and now, for things they've actually done. Repeating hateful lies actually makes them *more* sympathetic, and makes you look like a tool. (Which you are, but at least you're not named Chris, so it's *possible* for you to occasionally not be a ****ing moron. Rare though it is.) I mean, we already know that he was very brave. So far as I can tell, he was actually too stupid to be brave. Certainly too crazy. -- Terry Austin Vacation photos from Iceland: https://plus.google.com/u/0/collection/QaXQkB "Terry Austin: like the polio vaccine, only with more asshole." -- David Bilek Jesus forgives sinners, not criminals. |
