Default Are astronomy gathering safe for children?

After a recent experience I had on this board I now have to question my
involvement in amateur astronomy at best and weather I can allow my
children to take part at worst.
While checking s.a.a. for on of the first times I made the error of
clicking on a link to what I thought would be images of a members
telescope. I believe we all know where that link led. I also believe we
know how it was greeted with much approval from other posters.
Is this typical of amateur astronomy? What If My Son had been
watching?????????
As I asked in a previous topic is it safe for me to allow my spouse and
children to take part in this hobby? At this point I have to wonder if the
people who take part in it are the sort of people I want my family to
associate with. My wife and I have done our best to install good values in
our children that reflect the values we were brought up by our families and
church. This posting seems to cast some doubt on the wisdom of exposing
them to this hobby.
Thanks Clay

is that you Shawn ?

Maybe your son can read better than you do. The original post, after a
google search:

I couldnt help but share this.
If you are easily offended, please dont go to this webpage.
Contains full female nudity posing with a Meade LX-90.

Link deleted
A woman who (un)dresses up as catwoman and likes SCT go-to scopes.
Now we know which type of scope is the best.."
(...)

That's about as clear as it gets. If you're going to click on that
link after what the poster wrote, it's because you're interested in
seeing the pictures of cat woman and her CAT.

Troll.

Entirely beyond the point. I guess it makes you feel good to call me a
troll and dismiss my objections but nothing changes the facts.

I guess by your standards anything goes as long as a half hearted warning
is provided first.

Some things are simply not appropriate in this context and the post was
certainly one of them.

Ignore me by invoking the name "troll" but all you do is sweep under the
rug a very nasty problem.

Okay, dismiss the troll epithet. I apologize. You seem to have a real
beef with this issue.

Are you trying to tell me that some guy posting with a header titled:
"Meade LX-90 (with female - adults only)" providing the reader with
the aforementioned warning didn't do his best to warn people who are
offended by such pictures form clicking on the link?

The fact that so many subsequent posters failed to register some
outrage does point to the fact that this is not entirely inappropriate
and that the link was enjoyed as a piece of humor, albeit in very bad
taste?

You have all sorts of people out there and you can't expect the
outside world to conform to your values or to what you consider
inappropriate especially when you have been given fair warning.
