Belief in God is NOT incompatible with science!!

The authors of any religion claim to have better insight into age old questions concerning life and death than the rest of us do. The people who have found their faith like to pass it on to others, not unlike scientists do with their published science letters. In reading one of my latest acquisitions from the bookstore, I found an interesting concept... one that (I think) strikes to the heart of the argument. It's also a fundamental difference between science and religion. The UnWritten Commandment for every religion..... "Thou Shalt Not Question" Every religion takes something 'On Faith' and makes the assumption that certain concepts are true, and you're not allowed to challenge them. If you do, you're an infidel or a heretic. Science *encourages* questions. The analogy that people who have found their faith are like scientists who publish articles is inaccurate - people who have 'Found God' typically try to coerce you into seeing that they're right. The scientist who publishes his findings is asking others to show him where he's wrong. BIG difference. |
