Hmm. In a nutshell, this would launch two spacecraft to the other side of the sun, and then have an interferometer on ISS measure how much the sun's gravity is deflecting the light from the spacecraft to ISS. My first reaction is to wonder whether ISS is really stable enough in pointing, rigid enough, and free enough of vibration. But I suppose that they've done an initial stab at those variables and didn't find show-stoppers. I didn't see the wavelength in the article, but they said "laser beams" so I suppose it is optical. |
