Hard to know what to say about this 'historic' event but things are so quiet these days that perhaps better to say nothing at all. |

Curiosity finds trace evidence of carbon compounds on Mars http://blogs.physicstoday.org/newspi...ounds-on-mars/ Principle investigator Paul Mahaffy of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center says the compounds were likely created in SAM. The instrument heats soil samples, so it probably caused the decomposition of several natural compounds in the soil, which resulted in the chlorination of the carbon atoms. |

Just like Earth has all sorts of moon paramagnetic basalt and carbonado to work with. |

This begs the question...Why heat it if the results might be uncertain? \Paul A |

Just like Earth has all sorts of strongly paramagnetic moon basalt and carbonado to work with (I even own several kg of it). So, there's no telling where that extremely small amount of Mars carbon originated from. http://translate.google.com/# Brad Guth,Brad_Guth,Brad.Guth,BradGuth,BG,Guth Usenet/”Guth Venus”,GuthVenus “GuthVenus” 1:1, plus 10x resample/enlargement of the area in question: https://picasaweb.google.com/1027362...18595926178146 |
