Default ASTRO: M56

One of the first images I took with my 14" scope was of M56 in Lyra. It
was mono. The following year I took the color data. But in the
meantime I'd changed focusers. The old one sagged under the weight of
the camera. This put a lot of distortion in the image. The color data
was taken without that sag. No way I could match the color data to the
luminosity data due to the distortion. Since I had since further
changed the system new luminosity data wouldn't match the color data so
I resigned myself to retaking it from the beginning but weather never
made that possible.

A few weeks ago I tried Registar. Its an old program with a horrid
interface but sure does align unalignable images. I'd tried Maxim,
CCDStack and others to no avail but Registar did it perfectly in a few
seconds. Not cheap for a one act program (I don't care for its color
combine as I much prefer the control offered by Photoshop but it does
match the frames so they are a breeze to combine in PS) but it sure can
handle widely differing images without a problem.

14" LX200R @ f/10, L=6x5' binnes 2x2, RGB=3x5' binned 3x3, STL-11000XM,
Paramount ME

The long focal length of Your 14" makes quick work resolving it into stars.
I took a shot a few years ago of M56 on film and it looked like a small
unresolved blob of stars.

Nice picture Rick. Star colours look just right.
